Background
Annapurna Base camp is one of the famous and most visited basecamps of Nepal. This is because you can see the whole Annapurna massif and neighboring peaks. Along with it, the sceneries and cultures is something to remember. Taking the Poon hill with Annapurna Basecamp trek involves observing the gorgeous display of frosty mountain peaks like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and getting an opportunity to dive into the pristine culture that the Gurung and Thakali people follow. Take this trek if you want a perfect balance between nature and culture.

The trip is 15 days long and you start at the Kathmandu where you visit some of the famous landmarks like the Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath Temple. Then you drive to Pokhara where you stay overnight. The drive goes along the beautiful Prithivi highway and it provides surreal views of Trishuli River and Marsayangdi. After visiting the major landmarks in Pokhara, you head to Nayapul via bus. From here, you officially start your trek. You trek to Tikhedhunga and then Ghorepani. These small settlements are filled with Gurung people and to reach here, it is mandatory to walk along with stone steps that traverse through forests. The following day, you shall proceed towards the famous vantage point at Poon Hill to observe picturesque views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Gangapurna and the neighboring peaks. The view gets more amazing if you see it at sunrise, so you go there before dawn. After enjoying the view, you continue the trek to Tadapani, Chhomrong, and Dovan and finally reach Deurali. You stay at villages inhabited by ethnic people like Gurung of Chhomrong where you can enjoy their heart-warming hospitality and unique culture. Deurali is the final stop before you reach the basecamp. Initially, make your way to Machhapuchhre base camp and then walk on the snow-filled trails to finally reach the Annapurna Basecamp. You can see spectacular views of the southern slopes of Annapurna and the neighboring peaks. From the base camp, we head back to Bamboo and the descending trail takes us to Jhinu Danda where we can relax in the hot springs. Walk along the Modi Khola and finally arrive at Nayapul. Catch a bus that takes you to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu where this trip will end.
