Background

Mt. Manaslu (8,163m) is the favorite for those people who like challenging routes and mountains. Due to its difficulty, it is less visited by tourists so the beauty of this region is pristine and unlike any other mountain regions. The Manaslu region was once a restricted region and only in recent years has it been open to the general public. The mystical Manaslu Mountain serves as a holy deity to the locals and is believed to protect the local people from harm. In this journey, you will dwell deep into the wilderness of Manaslu region and after battling the rocky and frosty terrain, find yourself in the summit of the Manaslu peak. This 50-day-long trip is guaranteed to make you jump with joy.

The expedition is 50 days long and you arrive at Kathmandu to prepare necessary documents to enter the Manaslu Conservation Area. In the meantime, you can explore the UNESCO World Heritage Sites found here. Then, you drive to Arughat and from there you officially start to trek. You cross Soti Khola and Machha Khola to reach Jagat, the entrance to the Manaslu Region. Here you need to show your documents to proceed. Then you stay in many culturally rich villages like Deng, Phidim, Ghap, and Lho. After crossing all these villages, you reach Samagaon and here you can truly feel the enriching culture of Tibetan people in harmony with the Nepali culture. This is the last settlement area you stay before you head for Manaslu Basecamp. After staying overnight at the basecamp, you start your climb and it takes almost a month to scale and return to the basecamp. From there, you descend back to Arughat via the trail you used to ascend till the basecamp. Since this is one of the difficult mountains to climb, you need to have prior mountaineering experience and sound knowledge of technical climbing skills. The best time to climb is in autumn (September- November) as the monsoon would have ended, meaning no slippery trails and landslides. The weather is more stable during this time in comparison to winter.
