Background
One of the best recreational activities to do is cycling and recently the trails around Kathmandu Valley has been gathering a lot of attractions among cycling enthusiasts. Among them, Lele-Godavari-Patan has garnered the attention of many cyclists. This is because within a few hours you can see the countryside of Kathmandu that is different from the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan city. With X Company’s Lele-Godavari-Patan cycling route, you also get the chance to stay at an authentic Newari homestay.

 

You start the 2-day journey at Kathmandu where the company lends you a bicycle and you head towards Lele. The best time to start is early morning at 6’o clock because you can avoid traffic congestion and smoothly without any delays. You reach Lele around midday and have light lunch. Then you visit the famous Tika Bhairab Temple and offer your prayers. You can explore the surrounding areas or rest for a while. Then, you head to your next destination, Godavari. At Godavari, you visit the National Botanical Garden and explore it. There are many greenhouses with various kinds of plant species, which is bound to interest you. You can ask the staffs about the plants if you are curious. Then you head to Godavari Kunda and enjoy at the park. Next, you go to Godavari Forest to see the Kathmandu Valley at dusk. After enjoying the view, you head to a Newari homestay to experience authentic Newari dinner. The next day, you have your breakfast and bid goodbye to the homestay. You then head to Patan to explore this ancient city with its rich history and beautiful architectures. First, you visit Patan Durbar Square’s museum and explore the square. Then you visit the Golden Temple, Ashok Stupas and Patan Industrial State. You meet the company’s staffs for dinner and return the bicycle. You can enjoy this route all year round but it is recommended to avoid rainy season as the roads can get muddy and dangerous.

  • Day 01: Kathmandu-Lele-Godavari |30 Km |6-7 Hrs

    Early morning, you will depart for Lele. There, you stop at the Tika Bhairab Temple to visit the temple and have light snacks/breakfast. Then, you cycle through the beautiful agricultural lands and rustic villages to reach Lele. It is an antique Newari settlement and is mostly comprised of ancient styled houses. After having lunch here, we head out to Godavari. Here, you visit the National Botanical Garden and visit the Godavari Kunda. At Godavari Forest, you can rest and enjoy the scenic panorama of the Kathmandu Valley. Overnight stay at Newari homestay.

  • Day 02: Godavari-Patan-Kathmandu|20 Km |2-3 Hrs

    After breakfast, you head towards the Patan Durbar Square, which was once inhabited by royal families during the Malla dynasty. The cycling journey takes us about an hour. At Patan, the sea of people may overwhelm you. Explore the major landmarks of Patan that include Krishna Temple and Mahabouddha Temple. Then you visit the Golden Temple, The Ashok Stupas and Patan Industrial State. After the sightseeing tour, you have dinner at Jhamsikhel and head back to the place where you rented the bicycle. Our representative will come to pick you and then transfer you to your hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
