The highlands of Helambu are truly awe-inspiring trekking destinations which offer a surreal combination of natural beauty and cultural authenticity. Located to the south of Langtang Valley and Gosainkunda Lake, Helambu Trek is an easy and short trek. The trek offers you a beautiful view of forests, valleys, and mountain peaks including Langtang Lirung (7227m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), Mt. Gaurishankar (7134m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), and Rolwaling Himalayan Range. Helambu Trek is enjoyable and suitable for those who crave Himalayan adventure within a limited time in hand.
The 9-day Helambu Trek starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. Helambu lies around 80 km towards the north of Kathmandu city. From Kathmandu after trek preparation, you start your trip and drive to Sundarijal. From Sundarijal, you start walking uphill through Chisapani, Kutumsang, and Thadepati. It is the highest point of the trek. From Thadepati, you start descending. You pass Tarkeghyang and Sermathang to arrive at Melamchi Pul Bazaar. Tarkeghyang is a Sherpa village where you will get to experience the richness of culture, religion, and lifestyle of the indigenous Hyolmo people. Sermathang is another culturally rich village. From Melamchi Bazaar you drive back to Kathmandu and bring the trip to an end the next day as you return home. During this trek, you get a nice view of Langtang Range, Dorje Lakpa (6966m), Gaurishankar (7134m), Rolwaling Himalayan range and Ganesh Himal (7422m). All in all, the trek is a magnificent adventure in an easily accessible distance from Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu |1300 m|
You will be received at Tribhuvan International Airport once you land. Our company representative will drive you to your hotel. On the first day, there is nothing scheduled as part of the trip. You can roam near your hotel, do last minute shopping, and prepare for the trek.

Day 02: Preparation for the Trek and Rest
You can either rest for the day, prepare yourself for the trek, or do some sightseeing around Kathmandu. If you are interested in sightseeing, you can visit various cultural sites of Kathmandu like Basantapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath Stupa. All of these destinations are enlisted as world heritage sites by UNESCO and reflect the social and religious ethos of the people in the valley.

Day 03: Drive to Sundarijal |1 hr |& Trek to Chisapani |2300m|4 hrs
Today, you will start your journey and drive for an hour to reach Sundarijal from where your trek begins. From Sundarijal, you will trek through the oak forest for around 4 hours and reach Chisapani. On the way, you will pass some Tamang villages as you head north through the Shivapuri National Park. Towards the end of the trek, you will have ascended to an altitude of 2300 meters at Chisapani. Chisapani is a Sherpa village and is the resting point for the night.

Day 04: Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang |2446m| 7 hrs
From Chisapani, we walk through a gradually ascending trail to Kutumsang. The walk is long and you will walk through many uphill and downhill trails on the way. The trail becomes moderately difficult as you ascend to the top of Gul Bhanjyang. On the trek to the Sherpa village of Kutumsang, you can enjoy the views of the Langtang Range on the skyline.

Day 05: Trek from Kutumsang to Thadepati |3650m|: 6 hrs
On the fifth day, you will trek for six hours to reach up to the maximum altitude of this Helambu trek. The trek starts from Kutumsang and ends at Thadepati where you will stay overnight. On the way, you will pass through some amazing rhododendron and oak forest. You will also get a glimpse of snow-capped mountains like Dorje Lakpa (6966m), Gaurishankar (7134m), and Jugal Himal range on the way.

Day 06: Trek to Tarkeghyang |2560m|: 6 hrs
From Thadepati, you will descend towards Tarkeghyang on the sixth day of the trek. The descent is mildly steep and offers a magnificent view of the Helambu Valley. After about 6 hours of walking, you will reach Tarkeghyang. It is a Sherpa village where you will get to experience the richness of culture, religion, and lifestyle of the indigenous Hyolmo ethnic community.

Day 07: Trek to Sermathang |2610m|: 3-4 hrs
The next destination from Tarkeghyang is Sermathang. The trail is a pleasant walk through flatlands through the beautiful forest. You pass through the village of Ghangyul to arrive at Sermathang. It is another culturally rich Sherpa village of Helambu. There is a Buddhist monastery in the village that you can visit before settling in for the night.

Day 08: Trek to Melamchi Pul Bazaar |3-4 hrs|& Drive to Kathmandu|2 hrs| Farewell Dinner
On the final day of the trek, you will trek down to Melamchi Pul Bazaar. On the way of walking through the gradual descent of the trail, you will observe meadows and farming by the local Tamang people. From the bazaar, you will drive back to Kathmandu. After reaching to your hotel in Kathmandu, a farewell dinner shall be organized for your which shall be the official ending to your Helambu Trek.

Day 09: Departure
As per your flight schedule, you will be dropped off by one of our company representative to Tribhuvan International Airport. They will drive you approximately 3 hours before your flight. We bid you farewell with the hope that you had a wonderful time traveling with us.
