It is one of the most popular trekking routes which explores the trails south of the Annapurna massif. The panoramic sunrise view of the Annapurna Range along with Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m) and Lamjung Himal (6983m) from Poon Hill is the major attraction on the trek. Similarly, the Gurung culture, tradition, and lifestyle in Ghandruk and Ghorepani also offer an interesting change of pace on the trek. 

The 9-day Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek starts with your arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal. From Kathmandu, you drive to Pokhara and then Nayapul. The trek starts from Nayapul and you reach Ghorepani passing Ulleri and other villages on the way. The route to Ghorepani takes you through the biggest rhododendron forest in Nepal with the Annapurna Range as a constant companion. The next morning, you hike to Poonhill for the sunrise view over Annapurna I (8091m), Machhapuchhre (6997m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Lamjung Himal (6893m) and Hiunchuli (6441m) mountains. The same day, you head to Ghandruk, a beautiful Gurung village. Ghandruk offers great close up view of Annapurna I (8091m) and Machhapuchhre (6997m). Moreover, this village is famous for authentic Gurung lifestyle and cultural practices along with unique homestay services. Leaving Ghandruk, you trek down to Nayapul and then drive back to Kathmandu via Pokhara. The alluring attractions of this trek beside the mountains are the feel of the local and cultural experience of the Gurung and Magar settlements, the rhododendron forest, and wild flora and fauna in the Annapurna Conservation Area. The most ideal time for this trek is from September to November during autumn and March to May during spring.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

    You will be warmly welcomed and received by our company representative at Tribhuvan International Airport once you land in Kathmandu. They will drive you and assist you to check-in at the hotel. For the rest of the day, you are free to do as you please. 

  • Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus/Private  (820m)

    Leaving Kathmandu, you will start your journey to Pokhara which is a 6-hour long drive through the serpentine highways of Nepal. You pass through hills, rivers, highway towns, and villages to arrive at Pokhara. It is a beautiful city filled with tourist with a beautiful view of Annapurna (8091m) and Machhapuchhre (6997m). You will settle for the night at a cozy hotel, explore around the Lakeside, and prepare for the trek. 

  • Day 3: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1070m) and trek to Ulleri (1960m)

    On the third day, you will drive to Nayapul which is only a 1.5 hours’ drive away. From Nayapul, you will begin your trek and head to Ulleri. You will walk for 4 hours while passing through small villages with mud houses, farms with animals and agricultural fields. The trail initially gradually ascends then, later becomes quite steep. From Ulleri, you can see Annapurna South (7219m) and Patal Hiunchuli (6441m). 

  • Day 4: Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani (2880m)

    You will trek for about 5 hours from Ulleri to Ghorepani on the fourth day. You will walk uphill through a big and dense rhododendron and oak forests on the way. On the way to Ghorepani, you will get to witness beautiful snowcapped mountains of Annapurna Range as well. Ghorepani is a charming village with Gurung and Magar inhabitants and a popular rest stop for many trekkers. 

  • Day 5: Hike to Poon Hill (3210m) and trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2710m)

    The much-awaited day of the trek is the fifth day as you will hike to Poon Hill early in the morning to catch the most beautiful sunrise. About an hour away, the Poon Hill Station offers the best view of Annapurna Range as the first rays of sun strikes it. You can also witness Dhaulagiri range along with Machhapuchhre (6997m), Nilgiri (7061m), and Lamjung Himal (6983m). Afterward, we head down to Ghorepani for breakfast and then start the adventurous and rocky trailed trek to Tadapani for the next 5 hours. 

  • Day 6: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m)

    You will begin a 5-hour trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk on this day. To reach Ghandruk, you will walk downhill on stone stairs that go through lush rhododendron forest. Ghandruk is a popular tourist destination with a huge Gurung community settlement. Here you can interact with the locals and learn about their culture and lifestyle. You can also enjoy traditional Gurung dances, social practices, and heritages on your stay at the village. You also get a close-up view of Machhapuchhre (6997m) and Annapurna (8091m) from the village.

  • Day 7: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul (1960m) and Drive to Pokhara (820m)

    On the last day of the trek, you will start your journey to Nayapul (4 hours away). Leaving the charming village of Ghandruk, you start descending on stone steps with the view of Annapurna Range on your sight at all times. From Nayapul, you drive back to Pokhara. You can stroll around in Pokhara and Lakeside in the evening. You can also do some souvenir shopping in the evening. 

  • Day 8: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus (1300m)

    You will drive back to Kathmandu. The drive lasts about 6 hours long and will give you the change to rest after many days of trekking. Once in Kathmandu, you can rest at the hotel or stroll around Thamel. You can do souvenir shopping in Thamel as well. 

  • Day 9: Departure from Kathmandu

    On the final day, you will be taken to the international airport to catch your flight back home. We bid you farewell with immense gratitude and hope of seeing you soon again in Nepal.
