Explore some of the biggest Hindu pilgrimage sites while also enjoying the rich tradition, age-old practices, ancient architectures, and mesmerizing natural beauty in Nepal. Nepal remains the abode of most Hindu pilgrims and devotees in entire South Asia with its magnificent locations including Pashupatinath, Muktinath, Budhanikantha, and Manakamana. On our Hindu Pilgrimage Tour, you will visit all of these sites making your way from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then towards Jomsom to relish the Himalayas. 

 

This 9-day Hindu Pilgrimage Tour begins upon your arrival in Kathmandu. The tour takes you on a complete journey of some of the most revered Hindu sites around central and western Nepal. The tour commences with the visit to the UNESCO designated sites in Kathmandu valley including Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Afterward, you’ll drive west of Kathmandu to Manakamana Devi Temple located at the hilltop and then head further west to the touristic Pokhara city. The tour heads north through the Kali Gandaki Gorge to arrive at Jomsom in Mustang District. You’ll drive to Muktinath Temple located almost 11 km from Jomsom. Muktinath is considered one of the Mukti-Kshetra in Hindu mythology; hence, thousands of pilgrims visit the temple every year. You can witness the 108 stone taps inside the temple premise where pilgrims take the holy bath. You will drive back to Pokhara and indulge in a brief tour of Pokhara city. You will explore a few local Hindu landmarks such as Bindyabasini, Tal Barahi, and Gupteshwor before heading back to Kathmandu. The tour concedes upon your return to Kathmandu. The best seasons to undertake this tour are spring (Mar-Jun) and autumn (Sep-Nov).

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 

    One of our representatives will welcome you as you land at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A short drive through the busy roads and streets will take you to the hotel in the valley. As the day doesn’t entail any scheduled activities, you can stroll around and enjoy the Newari heritages.

  • Day 02: Kathmandu Pilgrimage Visit: Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Budhanikantha, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square

    The trip begins with a tour of Kathmandu city. You’ll first visit Pashupatinath Temple located at the heart of the city. Afterward, you’ll drive northeast and explore the popular Buddhist site of Boudhanath. The tour then moves to Budhanikantha, a revered Hindu site. Next on the tour is the popular monkey temple, Swayambhunath, located atop a hill to the west of Kathmandu. The tour ends with a brief visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a palace site built by the Malla Kings of Nepal.

  • Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Kurintar: Visit Manakamana then drive to Pokhara

    After an early breakfast, you’ll embark on a drive 105km west of Kathmandu to Kurintar. Kurintar serves as the gateway to Manakamana Devi Temple located atop a hill in Gorkha District. You’ll embark on a 2.8km long scenic cable car ride to reach the revered site. The name of the temple translates to Mana (Heart) and Kamana (Wish) and is known to grant wishes. After the temple and nearby orange farms, you’ll drive further west to the touristic Pokhara city.

  • Day 04: Drive from Pokhara to Muktinath via Jomsom

    After an early breakfast, you’ll embark on a scenic drive northwest through Kali Gandaki Gorge to Jomsom, the deepest gorge in the world. Spanning over 150km, it may take over 10 hours to reach Jomsom and you continue along the Kali Gandaki River. Jomsom serves as the headquarters of Mustang district and is also a gateway to Muktinath Temple. You’ll drive almost 11 km from Jomsom to reach the revered site of Muktinath.

  • Day 05: Muktinath Excursion and back to Pokhara

    You’ll make an early morning tour of the temple. Muktinath is a prime destination for most Hindu pilgrims as the final destination or “Salvation Destination.” The temple boasts 108 stone taps where pilgrims take a holy bath during the pilgrimage to the temple. You’ll also explore the nearby Stupa of Guru Rinpoche and learn about the history and influence of the shrine in the local regions. Afterward, you’ll drive back to Pokhara through Jomsom.

  • Day 06: Pokhara Pilgrimage sites visit: Tal Barahi, Bindyabasini, and Gupteshwor.

    You’ll indulge in a unique tour of Pokhara city and visit a few Hindu temples namely Tal Barahi, Bindyabasini, and Gupteshwor. Also known as Lake Temple or Barahi Temple, Tal Barahi, the site lies in the middle of Phewa Lake. Afterward, you’ll head to Bindyabasini temple located near the Bagar at Pokhara. The tour ends with a visit to Gupteshwor Mahadev, the temple of Lord Shiva located inside a narrow cave.

     

  • Day 07: Pokhara Sightseeing and Rest Day

    Today is a rest day at Pokhara. Pokhara is a prime tourist destination and you can choose to indulge in many fun-filled activities like paragliding and boating. From the valley, you can see Annapurna and Machhapuchhre. You can boat in Phewa Lake or Begnas Lake, go caving in Mahendra Gufa, visit Davis Falls, and the World Peace Stupa. In the evening, the stupa gives amazing sunset view of the Annapurna range and the Pokhara Valley.

  • Day 08: Back to Kathmandu| Farewell Dinner

    The tour concedes with your return to Kathmandu. After breakfast, you’ll embark on a ride back to Kathmandu and bid adieu to Pokhara. Getting the last glimpse of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre peaks, you will drive back through serpentine highway enjoying lush forested hills, and massive rivers.

     

  • Day 09: Departure

    Today you’ll bid adieu to Nepal. Our representative will drive you back to the international airport so you can catch your flight back home. We hope you had a good time traveling with us. Hope to see you again!
