Overview

Nepal has diverse groups of ethnic people that make up unique cultures and traditions, which have made the country stand out from the rest of the world. With the Indigenous Peoples Trail, you get to experience a part of the culture of the six different ethnic people living in the hilly regions of Nepal. With Miteri Nepal’s Indigenous People Trail package, you get to visit all the landmarks of this region and also get a guide who has in-depth knowledge about the local people and their cultures.

This 11-day trip starts with your arrival at Kathmandu, and then you head to Mude via road. From there onwards, you trek to various ethnic villages at various elevations ranging from 2,580m to 818m. The first stop in this trip is Deurali which is accessible by walking on the Indrawati river banks. From here, you head to Kholakharka which is famous for its scenic panorama of the mountain ranges like Langtang, Kanchenjunga, and Manaslu. On the road to Surkey, we will scout the Rajveer monastery and learn the secrets that envelop it. After staying overnight at Surkey, you head to Doramba, which is inhabited by Tamang people.

Most of the Thanka painters of Kathmandu have migrated from this village. Then you visit Khandadevi Temple at Khandadevi village and then the next stop is Dongme, which is inhabited by the Yolmo community. The last village is Lubughat, the village of Majhi (fishermen) where you can experience the daily life of those people. Throughout your time in this trek, you stay at homestays as it connects you with the local people and gets the chance to be as part of an ethnic family. From Lubughat, we head to Nepalthok and after a quick drive to Kathmandu, this trip will end. You can do this trek throughout the year but if you want to enjoy the pleasant and clear weather, the best time to come is September-December.

If you want to have the best trip while you are in Nepal, then Miteri Nepal is the ideal choice for you. We have a decade worth of experience in the tourism sector and our trained staff can cater to your every need. We arrange transportation and accommodation services as per your wish, along with providing the best food services.
