Overview

The Sundarijal to Chisapani Hiking trail is filled with natural wonders which provides a perfect getaway for a hectic life. It is the shortest hiking route in Kathmandu and explores the better section of the Shivapuri National Park. The route offers plenty of natural wonders along with an array of varieties of animals and birds. Similarly, the hike is also known for Himalayan views from both Sundarijal and Chisapani. From the cultural warmth of Sundarijal to the natural beauty of Chisapani, this hiking trip is perfect for those who wish to enjoy the true beauty of Nepal.

A short one hour drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal kicks off the trip. Your hike starts from the base of Sundarijal, the main attraction of this route, which is also known to be the major watershed region of Kathmandu. Sundarijal is also famous for being the origin of rivers like Bishnumati and Bagmati which irrigate the entire Kathmandu Valley. Apart from the wealth of water resources, the view from the highest point of the hill i.e. the Shivapuri Ridge gives you a beautiful view of the Kathmandu Valley. It is also a doorway for trekking routes such as Helambu, Nagarkot, Gosainkunda, and Langtang National Park. The hiking trail is also known as a cultural heritage site for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims because of the shrines, temples, and Gumbas in the vicinity. Your final destination for the first day and the highest altitude of the trek is at 2300m at Chisapani which gives you a perfect view of Kathmandu, lush green hills and tall mountains. Chisapani is a Sherpa village and grants sublime scenery of the mountains in Langtang and Gaurishankar ranges. The second day will be your hike downwards towards Chauki Bhanjyang, from where you take a short drive to Kathmandu.
