Overview

Sarangkot is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Pokhara since it hosts several adventure sports. Sarangkot Hiking takes you west from Pokhara to the hill station known to offer a mesmerizing parade of Annapurna Himalayas and Machhapuchhre (6997m). The magnificent view of the green forested hills, gleaming lakes, and the Pokhara Valley are some of the attractions on the hike.  Along with the traditional lifestyle and social norms of the Magar and Gurung locals, the hike is a mix of the cultural and natural allure of Pokhara.

The small hill station of Sarangkot is situated a little further away from the city of Pokhara, which you will reach through a short drive. The beautiful picturesque view of the quiet Pokhara valley greets you from the top of the hill. You will be greeted with the green hills and terraced rice and paddy fields of the valley along with the marvelous view of the famous Phewa Lake. The unobstructed views of the mountains in Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Lamjung Himal range alongside the Machhapuchhre (6997m) decorate the skyline. This panorama is even more spectacular during the sunset. In the next morning, you will be greeted by the rising sun as it peaks from the mountain ranges. People usually visit in groups to view the breathtaking view of the sunrise over the surrounding Himalayas. The hill is full of small teashops and traditional houses which give you a peek into the traditional lifestyle that the people living here follow. The sight is only visible at clear days so the best season to hike in the hills of Sarangkot is spring and autumn when the weather is clear and warm. Travelers can also make modifications to the hiking schedule to include adventure sports like paragliding or zip-lining.
